About

Meet Raelene, the visionary behind Saltbush Interiors. Her journey into interior design was sparked by a serendipitous realisation prompted by her eldest daughter’s course choice in Creative Industries at University. She recognised her passion for art, architecture, and interiors and embarked on a fulfilling career in the industry.

With a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, came significant change to Raelene’s work, health and home life. She was no longer able to work as a teacher and administrator, a job she loved.

Her background as a teacher has profoundly shaped her approach to design. Drawing parallels between her role in the classroom and her interactions with clients, Raelene views herself as a guide, supporting clients through their design journey, empowering them with knowledge, and fostering a collaborative team mindset.

Inspired by a personal health challenge, Raelene gravitated towards biophilic design and wellness-oriented spaces. Her own experiences highlighted the transformative power of connecting with nature within the built environment, driving her to incorporate elements of the natural world into her designs.

One memorable project that solidified Raelene’s passion was witnessing the joy of a 90-year-old client as she saw her kitchen design come to life. This reaffirmed Raelene’s belief in the profound impact interior design can have on people’s lives.

Approaching each project with sensitivity to individual needs and preferences, Raelene ensures that every design reflects the unique personality and lifestyle of her clients.

Raelene believes that well-designed spaces play a crucial role in promoting well-being and emotional connection, serving as sanctuaries that engage the senses and foster meaningful experiences.

Incorporating elements of nature and the environment into her designs, Raelene seeks to recreate the restorative qualities of the natural world within interior spaces, whether through color schemes, materials, or intuitive design elements.

Facing challenges head-on, Raelene maintains a positive outlook, prioritising collaboration, active listening, and problem-solving to achieve successful outcomes for her clients.

"I Believe

design is about connection. Connecting the space with those residing there. Connecting the space to its location and history. And, connecting the user with nature and the environment to benefit their health and wellbeing”.

"I Believe

our role as designers is to guide, support and educate the client, working with them to design a space that is functional, authentically them and one that creates an emotional attachment and affection”.

Interior design is the art or process of designing the interior, often including the exterior, of a room or building. An interior designer is someone who coordinates and manages such projects.
• Interior design is the total creative solution for a programmed interior. It encompasses the conceptual planning, aesthetic and technical solutions applied to achieve the desired result.
• A “programmed interior” means a specific intended purpose or use of the built environment.

INTERIOR DESIGN CONCERNS ITSELF WITH MORE THAN JUST THE VISUAL OR AMBIENT ENHANCEMENT OF AN INTERIOR SPACE. IT SEEKS TO OPTIMISE AND HARMONISE THE USES TO WHICH THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT WILL BE PUT.
